-Artist Statement-
I consider myself to be a traditional artist. I love the process of creation and working with my hands to create my art. Primarily, I create smaller art pieces using craft materials, such as dolls made of pipe cleaners or sewn plushies made from different fabrics or crochet. It’s where most of my character designs and story ideas spawn. Drawing is another way that I give my creative ideas form, making character designs that would be too complex to translate into my usual dolls. I consider my work to be more sentimental than practical. It makes me happy to create my art, and it makes others happy when I share my works with them. I strive to create art that brings a little whimsy into others’ lives and brighten their day.
When I began studying digital media in college, I dabbled in various other methods of creation, making compositions with Adobe Photoshop, creating graphics with Adobe Illustrator, animating motion graphics using Adobe After Effects, and Photography. I still have a strong love for creating work with my hands, even now as I venture further into the world of digital media. I’ve been brainstorming ways to further enhance my art and to brighten the days of more people on a larger scale. I had the idea to combine the two by working my dolls into photography and by drawing my characters digitally. Now as I take steps into the professional world, I aim to continue as I always have by making neat trinkets and little guys that strike joy into others.
